Greetings:

Baka-san, I am deeply hurt. You mean to tell me you didn't read every word of this nearly-pointless Drivel? :)

Ha-hahaa, I keed, I keed you. Compression is posted on a pic up there on page 2 or 3, along with my first successful Squish measurements. In the 145 range if I correctly recall, although Memory is something I find increasingly unreliable. Nevertheless, Flash 7 is sipping the last of my 4-gallon supply of 100 Low-Lead from Deepinnaharta County Airport mixed 50-50 with Premium and 3% Motul Synthetic. The 170+-PSI Malossi survived several hundred miles - Beautifully if you scroll back up to disassembly pics - on this petrochemical nectar.

High octane can hide many sins.

I think I was fooled into thinking the 155 Main was too rich when the motor was first assembled. I'm not sure why, but it 4-stroked and power lightened up whenever I first applied bigger throttle. Maybe the weather was a good bit cooler, or the pipe was wrong, or the needle was too rich, or I simply mistook Lean for Rich. Anyway I dropped to 150 and the power improved but even with the 152 it got pretty warm at WOT. Now I'm back up to 155 and it felt pretty good - the power increased as I opened wider - when I took it down the alley before buttoning up the plastics. I have yet to see where the temperature gauge settles. You can be sure I will be watching closely, and making throttle position changes gradually as I go.

REP: PM sent about one of those Exotic Malossi belts. I've got a good lead on eBay about someone interested in the left lobe of my Thyroid gland.

Greetings:

Fetching dry cleaning becomes speed test run down Yellarosa Highway. We had a Blue Norther roll in early this morning. Heading south, natch!

I had reinstalled the 155 main jet, and swapped my new Kevlar Gates Metro belt into the CVT. PG Short pipe and no other changes.

A couple things about the run. Downhill = overpass and Downwind = strong quartering tail wind. However speed was still climbing as a white Tahoe merged onto the highway ahead and was in no particular hurry. I had to let off, particularly since it turned out to be an unmarked Sheriff's unit. Also, I was carrying a giant red laundry bag - think "Santa" and you've got the idea.

Ambient Temps were in the high 60s. Engine Temp never got above 380. RPMs were 10,100 or so. The engine made good, stumble-free power everywhere.

Just received the Malossi ZX belt from Eftie. I plan to make only that change and try again soon.

Do you want to borrow my fabrizi pipe to see if its an investment you want to make? I sent the kymco zx50 block and the fabrizi bore off to Flotek for some porting and to do the engine build itself. So my pipe will be hanging on the wall for untold weeks and even after the engine returns will be sitting awaiting its chassis.

Thanks, Dawgs. I'll keep tuning. The engine's sweet with the PG Short. Of course additional jet changes may be required as RPMs climb. Next chance for testing won't be for a couple of weeks, alas.

Greetings:

Imprudent speeds indeed. I started with the Fabrizi pipe on loan from a fellow Forumista. Install was tricky. I planned Flash to Look stock, yet Go like stink. That means keeping stock plastics, leading to the first snag:
FabPipeParallel.jpg

Uh, notta lotta clearance here. I removed the silencer, which was presumed to foul the skirt.

After I returned from the Ear E.R., I realized that a mere 2 inches of shock travel means that this is actually enough. At least it was with a quarter-inch shim holding the silence outboard that much. It just kisses at full bump.

And the plastic is plenty flexy.

Silencer mounted, the Fab is surprisingly quiet. Not unlike the PG Short, and much quieter than the last chamber pipe I had. It positively hides behind a Scorpion.

Out on the street, the whole thing felt so much more linear. Quick to take throttle at any speed, and quickly ripped above 10K to an unknown top speed. Alas Garmin-Girl didn't join me on the ride, but RPM - and presumably speed - was higher. Temp max was 384, so jetting stays where it was.

Also installed the Malossi ZX belt. Take off was crisper, and on-vario RPM was up too. Really REALLY happy with this setup so far. FABRIZI ROCKS!

Looks nice, right pipe for the job. Id be hard pressed to use the PG short being as it works so wonderfully on the stock 49cc cylinder, but in any case its better than running a stock pipe. Did you try the Malossi cdi I sent also?

Yes, I didn't want to embarrass the man publicly, but this kind of generosity seems common on the Forum. Thanks to all who are willing to share.

As for the Malossi CDI, it was new in package and I didn't have the heart to tear it out. There may or may not be a performance advantage, but the darn thing runs so well with the stock Honda item, I'm not sure it could be much better.

Hi WM.
So you say the fabrizi pipe is not as loud as the PG short? interesting.
How about a V8 pipe? to the fabrizi?
my neighbors don't like the PG and I'm looking for something more quite. thanks

Greetings:

The PG Short isn't all that loud compared to some pipes I've had. I don't have a dB meter to be certain, but the Fab chamber WITH its oversized fake-carbon fiber muffler does seem even quieter. I did fire it up withOUT that muffler for a moment as I was fitting the pipe to my skirted Elite and DANG that was Stupid-loud. I can say for sure there's no baffling whatsoever in its curvaceous chamber section,
FabPipeSide.jpg
FabPipeSide.jpg (164.74 KiB) Viewed 5679 times
and the U-shaped pipe leading to the muffler section doesn't do much to suppress the pops. Not to worry, my tinnitus has almost gone away after a week.

I don't know about Kiwi "NeighboUrs", but getting into Noise Wars with wholesome American Neighbors is always a bad idea.
