2000 SA50/kymco zx50 engine build

Post by tabs808 »

Haven't posted here for a while!
I've had this 2000 af16 for a few years now.
i got it with the original af16 block, stock crank, 66cc bore, mikuni carb, and a 66cc malossi pipe.
Bore seized so I did a 50mm bbk, 28mm oko, v8 pipe, and some gears.
On the side, I had gotten a SYM DD50 motor built. Mini stroke corsa, pully ported, gears, drive train, and some other stuff.
A year or so after, I had ran into some financial problems so I sold both motors.
Here I am, 2.5 years later, riding again. Just picked up a SYM Arnada motor with a stock crank, keihin carb, PG long pipe, and 7.5:1 gears
slapped a drivetrain on and got it kinda tuned.
Im going to leave the bike as is and build another motor on the side.
I got a kymco ZX50 engine for cheap and I plan on building it for my SA50

Here is how the bike looks now. I'll look for old pics later.
BMX clamp, drag bar, NCY stem, RRGS drop legs, 220mm koso rotor, rpm quick throttle, dd50 rim, small spree front tire, 3" stretch, ruckus rear rim, 90/90 tire. I've ran the ruck rear rim many times before without problems

For those who don't already know, the kymco zx50 has a dio based engine, but with the capability of running a 12" rear rim. With that said, that is why im building this block.

This whole day, ive been thinking about how to remove that stuck magneto, split the block, and remove the crank.
On my lunch break, I called many places for prices and hawaii prices are unreasonable lol. On my drive home, I remembered I had a steering wheel puller and thought I'd give it a try. And it works!

Why didn't I think of this sooner

Mag is off! Sucker was rusted stuck on there

The I think this motor was submerged in water and * lol

Removes the stator and went for the crank.

There was a mini stroker 2ab ruima crank in there, rusted and gritty. Im lucky that the bearings followed the crank out. Less work for me!

I plan on doing a stock stroke build. I have friends that know where to get aftermarket gears for this block. Ofcourse im going to use the authentic honda bearings and seals. This is the first time im going to port my own block and bore. Plan on going with a stock S crank and a corsa. If I can scrape up the extra cash, a malossi crank.

The Kymco block has a lot of room for improvement with porting, expect to spend 3 plus hours working it but in the end it's well worth it.
