Greetings:

My apologies for the oversize pics. They were taken with my Galaxy S5 and those were DOWN-sized to 10%. I dunno, I miss MouseWheels. He'd know how to fix this.

Indicated speed on Reflex tops 70 fairly quickly in any wind direction but I haven't had the chance to wind it out all the way on a downwind or downhill run. I believe Indicated speed on Honda is probably 8% optimistic, but haven't put Garmin-girl on it to verify. I did spin the clutch bell and got 6.75:1 for a bell/wheel overall final drive ratio. With that tall gearing and an early upshift in the variator despite 120 grams total, this thing is no drag racer. Smooth, quiet and comfortable though.

Greetings:

Racing Planet had my order on December, and delivered yesterday. "Stuck in US Customs", they said. Oh, well. They threw in a 2013 AIMExpo t-shirt.
Anyway, rather than clutter up this beloved 2-Smoke forum, interested parties can follow the Reflex build here.

Nah, just the Malossi belt and the WRONG Polini contra spring. Stiffer metal, but too short. Compressed to the correct length, it gave only 84 pounds on the scale. Thinner but taller stock spring was 105. These Reflex pulleys are hard to spread, even with Freakish Wheel-hands.

Hi wheelman. the softer spring will shift faster.
is it my understanding that your scoot has a little slow take off?
I use a wood wedge and tap it in the back to pull the belt off.

malossi sells 13/37 second gears for more top speed.
if trans is tuned correctly scooter will rev lower and have a higher top speed. More for highway Turing.. :coolcruise:

Greetings:

Slow-mid-range is no more. Neither is the Low Moan of Slippage present any longer. The Malossi clutch bites as it should. I dropped down to 115g load in the Big Ruck variator. Even with the stock spring, it now Leaps ahead singing a 7000-RPM tune. Used to be 4000. The upshift is still a bit abrupt, but at least now it happens at nearly 50 MPH instead of 30, by which time the engine, at 5500RPM or so, has the torque to maintain some acceleration to top speed. Speedometer-to-GPS error is on the order of 5%, so I'm guessing top speed is around 71 with large shield and - ahem - Generous Wheelman physique. Top speed doesn't appear to be limited by RPM but by power available. Taller gears would only help downhill, and there just ain't a lotta downhill in Deepinnaharta.

Hi wheelman. your reflex looks very nice. The windshield looks comfortable :thumbwink:

Greetings:

Good news: Flex topped an indicated 80 this afternoon on Deepinnaharta Freeway. It was windy. The giant GIVI shield probably assisted, acting as a spinnaker.

Bad news: Upwind in the same conditions resulted in a struggle to 68 indicated. Might have to consider choppin' that shield down a tad.

Thing is, the Malossi clutch isn't slipping and all nineteen ponies are actually making it to the rear contact patch. It tops 75 without any wind, and does it reasonably quickly with a 115-gram load in the Big Ruck vario. Still doesn't pull like Flash when it's peaking, but runs full-throttle all day long and likes it.

that's good news wheelman, I know the reflex will do 80. there are a lot of variables in getting there. The tall windshield is one. you can trim it a bit an add door trim.

from 2004-2007 Honda added a upgraded the alternator to provide more power. I wonder if that gives it a little more spark?
make sure you have a fresh spark plugs in the motor.

the 26 mm carb may have a different jet?
I know they did that with the metropolitan and the ruckus. They used 30 MJ on the metro and a 35 MJ on the rouk. Same motor. Longer swingarm:nerd:

I wonder if your carb is a little dirty inside? From sitting?
try a new spark plug. A splash of carb cleaner in the gas tank. Good fuel.
may just have a little carbon deposit? You should have a ok pick up. :nerd:

Greetings, Ped:

Yeah, Honda has been known to make running tweaks as it learns from previous model years. The EPA has forced carbureted engines to be fitted with Razor-Thin lean jets, and maybe they found in 2003 that they had overdone it a bit in '02. It hadn't occurred to me to remove the carb, and the process of pulling all those plastics without experience with them is daunting. If I find a better excuse to dig into GoldenBoy's entrails, I will drop the carb and have a look. Aww Jeez! Another set of jets to collect! Until then, Heck! Just ride it!

Hi wheelman.
I believe there is access underneath the seat to the carb.
until it's time for a cleaning, enjoy your cool, comfortable ride. :coolcruise:

Greetings:

Ad in WTB section for the handful of NSS250 owners around here:

GoldenBoy came pretty complete, with just a few missing body rivets and bolts. I got everything tidied up, including a missing battery strap, but apparently there's a cover that goes over the lead-acid lump, and it's killing me that I don't have one. Well not enough to cough up $49. to PartZilla, but still. Anyone have one lying around? It's worth $25 to me. I'll even kick in shipping.
