Re: elec starter question
Not sure about the spree but you should be able to remove gears inside case. You'll just loose a few ounces of weight, no real gains by doing it.

Re: elec starter question
maybe so but if it saves me from haveing to tell my son "hey that wont work" time and time again then great plus the thought of burning someting or damaging something if trying to start with it.

Re: elec starter question
Understood. You could unplug power wire to starter. I removed the starter gears from my 94 AF16. I'm assuming you can on a spree too. Gears should just come out, if anything you might have to remove drive pulley for clearance.odinxxix wrote:maybe so but if it saves me from haveing to tell my son "hey that wont work" time and time again then great plus the thought of burning someting or damaging something if trying to start with it.

Re: elec starter question
I looked at the spree service manual, it looks the same as my SA16. You have a plug at starter that slides off the tab on starter motor, looks like bendix just falls out. No need to put anything in its place. So unplug at starter motor or remove bendix.

Re: elec starter question
I can tell you first hand that the 85 jet is too lean. I'm going to try a few jets. tazland went with a 90, so thats going to be my next move.
Re: elec starter question
90 will make more rich but take into consideration what kind of filter you are useing. is he running stock air box? i have the 95 in there now and running my heat cycles with the air filter in but the top lid off. you may want to experiment a little. maybe run your 85 with a few holes drilled in the top of box. need to match the air flow with the fuel flow.
