Honda Elite question

I recently bought a honda elite. When I start the scooter, sit on it, and rev the engine, the engine reacts but it the bike itself has a delayed reaction and does not move for a few seconds. When the bike does react its all of a sudden and not smooth like another elite I used to have. What could be a common cause for this? Thanks!
