I took apart my throttle assembly on my '86 Spree that I rebuilt last year and the retainer spring flew somewhere into my front lawn. They still sell the part but only as part of a set with the pin and little c-clip, and I don't want to shell out $20 for it.
Anybody have any ideas on what I can replace it with?
-Thanks in advance

Re: Quick replacement for a throttle pin retainer?
Here's a pic that may help. The clip is about 0.012 thick, and fills the slot pretty well. The needle is 0.080. You can do some pixel work comparing the shaft to slot thickness and come up with an exact figure. Totally off the cuff, a guess is a 1/16" e clip (maybe 1.5mm is better). But the thickness is going to be a factor. Someone here may have a spare clip for you, that would be the easy route...
Good luck - and I've been there with clips and other parts that spring off into far corners of the shop or work area.

Oops, sorry to confuse everyone. I'm not talking about the little c or e-clip but rather the thing shaped like a "W" that sits on top of it between the c-clip and the spring.
Thanks for all the help and offers so far though!

be sure to wrap up those pointy bits real good.... the PO of our razz tried sending the key to us in the mail in an envelope... tore the envelope and fell out in shipping and now it's lost forever.
