86 fuel tank on 85 spree?

Post by mattman »

Is the 86 fuel tank different from the 85 or can I swap one for another?

The petcock connections are different. Also the fuel sender on an 86 is a 3 wire and the 85 is a 2 wire.

The 85 tank itself will bolt up no problem between all year Sprees.

Either of you guys have a good tank and/or petcock you want to sell? The interior of mine is so rusted that I think I may be better off finding a replacement. So far I have run across a few 86's so that's why I was asking.

I thought the 3 wire sender was an '87 thing (not 1986) ..... I could be wrong.

My 86 has a 3 wire so I don't know if there was an early 86 model that was different from a late 86.

I have an 87 tank and an 85 but need to verify. Both nice and clean.
