Re: Head Gasket question
Meh, I don't know much about gaskets. For what it's worth, the front of the head had rust where the gasket was. Everything was stuck down real well, except the front, it has oil stains all over it also.Bear45-70 wrote:Any gasket stuck that hard to the surfaces was not leaking. If it was there would have been oil all over the area it was leaking.

Well... If that isn't it... Could you give me any ideas where it could be leaking? I noticed there was a gasket on the carb... possibly that?Bear45-70 wrote:Any gasket stuck that hard to the surfaces was not leaking. If it was there would have been oil all over the area it was leaking.

Why do you think it is leaking?
Was there oil spray?

Re: Head Gasket question
No.. I am just guessing now. It has been running like pure garbage. I put some terrible gas in it without realizing which gas it was (there was gas to be burned, and good gas, similar containers) and I wasn't paying attention to the actual quality of the gas. It ran, then a few days later, wouldn't at all. Start then die. My friend was messing with it after I scrubbed the carb and cleaned the jets real good. It was showing symptoms of blown head gasket. (Running incredibly rich, couldn't tweak it, wouldn't idle, lots of white smoke)Trafficjamz wrote:adios1344 wrote:Well... If that isn't it... Could you give me any ideas where it could be leaking? Re: Head Gasket question
From your picture, it looks like there may have been some leakage from the exhaust port. Perhaps the gasket for the muffler was bad or absent.
Re: Head Gasket question
Is it supposed to be between the head and the exhaust? If so, its not there, and hasn't been there.mbilderb wrote:From your picture, it looks like there may have been some leakage from the exhaust port. Perhaps the gasket for the muffler was bad or absent.
Re: Head Gasket question
That goes on top of the head, but what is that little tube? It wasn't connected when I took it off. One sides covered in mud/oil/gunk. Not sure what it is.
Re: Head Gasket question
That is not the head. It is the cooling shroud.

I know it isn't the head. Hence why I said it goes on top of the head. But what does the tube do?Bear45-70 wrote:That is not the head. It is the cooling shroud.
