Head Gasket question

From your picture, it looks like there may have been some leakage from the exhaust port. Perhaps the gasket for the muffler was bad or absent.

Is it supposed to be between the head and the exhaust? If so, its not there, and hasn't been there.

Go to Bikebandit.com and in the oem section for your scooter there will be an exploded view of the head and exhaust. Just picking an elite at random 87 Elite 50 S, the exhaust exploded view shows item #1 a ring "Gasket, Ex Pipe" that fits between the exhaust and the head. Its a collapsible metal ring.

Well this is now completed. I got the head bolts fasted to the correct torque.
