Starter button not working

Post by thebook92 »

When I push the starter button on my '85 Spree, it feels like it's already pushed all the way in and there's no "springiness" to it. Also, I have to wiggle it around in order for the starter relay to engage. Is there any way to take that assembly apart and fix said problem?

My theory is: someone put it together, it has to come apart. :)

I have a switch in my parts box I can sell you if you can't fix it.

The service manual (no RTFM for me, good sir!) doesn't show anything about disassembling that part, and I'd really rather not go tearing into something and end up with no idea how to put it back together. Was I missing something in there, or is there a link to a document or something that shows how it comes apart?

I'll go look at the switch and see if the return spring is accessible without much tear-down.

don't think parts are available individually but usually just need a good cleaning.

Two screws will split the whole housing open. Inside there is a switch held on by one screw. There is a spring in there. Looks like you can access it if it fell out.
