New 48mm Bbk install Break in plug chop etc.

Post by pboost »

So i manned up today got the 48mm bbk installed with a 90 jet, Stock air box with five small wholes per the instructions(also 32:1 Premix with stock pump). I did 10 start up and idles to just over 220 degrees then shut down. During the idles i did vary the throttle slightly no more than 1/8 throttle then back to idle. I just got back from a short 10 minute ride i seen crusing (15mph no faster) temps in the 180-190 area.

Did 1 plug chop after the ride was light tan. maybe a little tad of brown on it. Is this normal? should it be darker lighter? hopefully someone can chime in.

Bike doesn't sputter or bog under throttle accelerates smoothly but then again i havn't gone anywhere near wot.

I can grab a pic of plug in the a.m if needed. Just wanna be sure im ok with the jetting and not going to smash up my fresh new build.

Any insight tips etc are more than welcome. Thanks.

32 to 1 with the stock pump is too much oil. You will end up too lean.

Yes that is 32:1

try for 2 oz per gallon if the stock pump is still intact.

Premixed new gas 2oz a gallon. Short 10 minute trip and back. I did noticed when first took out plug i seen a small black dot of oil/gas on outer of electrode not the middle tip. Rest of plug was brown and lighter tan in areas opinions?
