1987 honda elite 80 gas blowing into air filter

Not quite sure whats goin on here. the scoot has been sittin about 2 weeks until i got a new air filter, i put it on, fired it up and it drove fine for about ten minutes until i brought it home and turned it off. had a hard time restarting it. pulled off the air box cover and gas was leaking out. it will start and idle for the most part but when throttle is applied of bogs and runs like s***...anyone know what the deal is?

.....sounds a lot like the float needle has become stuck open....flooding the air box with gas.....possibly a hose into the air box?? ....from emissions hose

I was just working on a gy6 that was doing the same thing but it also overflowed the spark plug to. I would say your float needle is stock open. I had to clean the carb twice the second time I scrubbed the float needle and now it works great.

since i don't know anything about the 80 i'm *-u-ming the float needle seat is non replaceable.
