86 spree idle screw, no elec start, one flashing signal

Post by maxreverb »

Just driving my spree for a few minutes seems to unscrew it enough so the engine dies when never I stop. If I replace the throttle screw will this fix this?

Also, i put a new battery in it but when i push the start nothing happens. Um, i'm guessing starter dead?

All the other lights work. the left turn signal flashes but the right on just stays lit, is this normal?

You have to have the brake on for the starter to work.

Usually when One side stays on it means a light is burnt out.

Yeah i meant the idle screw got it right in the subject, but tired.

OH Yeah the brake, i got so used to kick starting it, i forgot about that!
I just went and tryed it and that was all it took.

OK cool i will get a new signal bulb.
THanks Bear!

Also I was wondering when I kick start it it will not start no matter what unless i give it some gas with the throttle. i have read you say a bunch of times that i should not need to do this when starting, does this indicate some sort of problem?

When warm giving it throttle is normal in a lot of cases. When cold, having to give it throttle would indicate an overly rich situation. The bystarter is unlikely to cause this but either a high float setting or a bad needle and seat can. Also a petcock leaking fuel into the vacuum line can do this. This is why I replace all my fuel, oil and vacuum lines with new clear hose.
