A quandry about Spree Light

Post by Spree<3 »

1986 Spree (stock other than intake mod and larger main jet)

Ok, so I got a new piston, rings, cylinder, wrist pin, circlips, gaskets... got them all on and everything there is good...

Starts just fine and idles well... but for some strange reason, when I got it all back together, my headlight and instrument panel lights do not come on. Gas gauge, Tail light, horn, and turn signals work fine. Everything worked 2 weeks ago. Now, no headlight or dash lights.

The headlight is good... in fact, I rode it around the block and the lights started to flicker a bit but never came fully on.

Sounds like a wire is loose or a ground isn't connected, but I've checked them and they are all hooked up. Did I miss an elusive wire? My battery is freshly charged, fuse is fine, and I can start the scoot with a push of a button... but no lights.

Any insight? Guesses? Wild theories?

I agree with Marty. You have a connection issue, be it ground or a power wire. FYI the headlight and dash lights are run off AC from the stator and not the battery like the rest of the lights that are working.

I got it... guess my stator went bad...there's one of the coil wires that is broken. Not sure how that happened, but it's definitely broken.

So, I'm looking for a stator... cheep

Have at least one on parts bikes. Located in the N Portland area. $5 if you pull $10 if I do.
