72cc bbk just installed not reving up like it should HELP

Post by lolo123 »

2000 elite s just got done rebuildin with new kit keli vari and clutch and eight to four to one gears. Stock airbox and exhaust(unrestricted) running a 88 main jet. Scooter fires up first kick and idles fine just does not rev up like it should at all gets to a certain rpm just past quarter throttle and just doesnt rev any higher like its governed. Checked plug for spark and even put a new plug and it hasent got me anywhere. Hopefully someone has had this problem i was so excited to put it all together and break it in and it wont even run right.

For1 you shouldn't be reving it up if you just put the bore in. You need to heat cycle the cylinder first.that way the metals can conform to each other. Reving a fresh bore is a good way of stretching the ring lands out. Did you punch the 2nd tab out of the outer cover of the airbox where the air comes into the airbox? If you did then check your airfuel screw adjustment

I didnt rev it up right off the bat i would start it let it run for about 15 mins and shut it off and let it cool down did that about 3 or four times. punched second tab out. which screw is it the top one to adjust air to fuel and which way should i turn it.

The top screw is for the idle. The bottom screw that looks like its sitting in the carb body is the air fuel screw. Set that at 1 3/4 turns out.
