72cc polini not running at its full potential

Post by lolo123 »

have a 99 elite installed bbk 8 4 1 grears keli clutch and keli variotor. It will get up to about 35 and im not pushing many rpms at all. I tryed running a 88 main in it and it was way to rich so i drill out the stock 68 to about a 70 somethin and i got a lot more noticable power. It just gets to a certain point and wont kick into high rpm. Any suggetions im running close to 280 on cht. i was thinkn maybe clutch spring isnt going out all the way are i need to go to a smaller jet. IM running stock carb and exhaust and intake. I hope somebody can help me summer is almost here!

I went 58 mph with stock carb and pipe..... so i don't think that's the problem.

Try all 8 grams and i know you dont want to hear this but your wasting your time with the carb and pipe stock

What's wrong with using the stock carb and pipe? That setup can 60+ plus not eat gas. So there is nothing wrong with using the stock carb and exhaust with a 72cc setup.

running 8 to 4 to 1 gears with 9 gram weights on the keli variator i know its not tuned super well but its running at 1/4 throttle the hole time if it would just make the transititon to higher rpms this think would scream! But it only runs 30 now. And when it comes to jetting it runs better the smaller main jet running a 78 and its not getting hot running at a good temp. But on the carb leanning out the air mixture screw once you get to a certain point it starts boggin like its runnig rich again.

those weights are way to heavy. your still using the stock center spring and clutch shoes springs in the back?

yes. leave the 9's in and put the 2k center spring and try that first.you might have to mix that 8 and 9's together 3 of each and put it every other in the variator. then your jetting is going to get lean because now the motor will be reving up. the way it is now ,when you ride the engine rpms drops after the initial takeoff and then its lugging after that huh?
