I'm reinstalling my carb. When I hold the throttle valve in my hand and twist the throttle, it retracts just fine. After I screw the throttle valve back in the carb and twist, the grip does not return back to the idle position. There is no tension at all in the grip when I turn it after the valve has been re-installed.
So, I put a little oil on the sliding part of the throttle valve in the carb. No luck. I thought maybe it wasnt sliding well.
Out of ideas here....

is the spring installed? do you have the notch lined up correctly?

sounds like it is installed backwards

Yep. What tjamz said. Make sure you have the long open slit in the throttle valve facing away from you when you install it.
