elite still running hot with new carb help

Post by lolo123 »

my 99 elite 72cc kit ,24mm oko carb and intake with stock pipe still wants to run hot and lose power i notice on the temp gauge and shut it off before it does get hot and do any damage. But the main jet is to rich causing it to bog past 3/4 throttle. Its got me puzzled should i richin pilot jet? Im getting tired messing with it the carb is basically on stock settings now

Too lean, just like every other engine that runs hot.

What jets are you using?
2001 Honda Elite
1995 Yamaha Jog
1994 Yamaha Axis

I can't believe
that cop put me
in the backseat
when I clearly
called shotgun.

is your carb the power jet carb? has the hose that goes from the float bowl to the top of the mouth of the carb? also list your whole setup

72cc polini 24mm oko powerjet carb( dk jet sizes whatever stock is) with bigger intake, uni filter, 8 to 4 to 1 gears keli clutch keli vari stock pipe. Carb is at stock settings and has good take off and acceleration onlyat 1/2 throttle, bogs when past 3/4 to full

you need to disconnect that hose that goes to the top of the mouth of the carb. see what jets are in the carb. you will need to change them. start with a 48pilot 118 main jet. 2 turns out on the air fuel screw and set the needle clip 1 up from middle then go from there. that power jet is whats screwing with the tune and the jets that come in those carbs are usually wrong
