Need Help removing and cleaning carb..

Post by slapshot0046 »

I have spent most the morning reading about NQ50s that wont start and am getting ready to clean the carb in attempts to get the scooter running. Unfortunately I have never done this before. Im good with directions and accuracy, but the videos I have found are really of no help to me in finding the carb/dissasembling it. I do not see anything in the original owners manual showing the specifics of the carb.

Can anyone help me?

You might also want to download the service manual:

Look for a metal thing between the air filter housing and the intake manifold. There will be hoses and a throttle cable attached to it.... ...if finding the carb has been difficult for you, then disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly might give you seizures...g'luck. Service manual will answer most of your questions. Return here with your findings and additional questions that you can't get sorted.

i have just cleaned my carb and i am stil pretty green .i used the the instuctions . that are on this website with pics
very good job simple to understand to take off the carb is pretty simple after the side cover is off
you will need to have a 8 mm socket 1/4 drive works best short extentsion and rachtet
first clean the outside off youre carb with brake cleanerit works well ith the grime you will find on the back of the carb
after this is done . Take the plastic cover offthe bystarter bevery carful they are hard to find without a source you just have to lift the cover offthen take the two screws that holds the clip that ataches the bystarter to the carb.
after the screws and the clip is off pull it up be gentle it is part of the choke.
next take take the cover off the top of the throttle cable again lift ip up out of the way.
to take the trottle cable off .turn the hold down nut that the trottle cable goes thru i used a small pair of vise grips
again pull straight up take the 8 mm bolts off the bolt inside bolt is longer.
pull off the fuel line be carful with the hose clamp but if you damage them napa has them
and it is a good idea to replace the fuel ine loosen the clampfrom youre air intake and move it of your way
there is also a fuel drain line in the back of the carb
the whole prosses took me about 1hour the hardest thing is that you have never done it before but it is very simple if you have any Q just ask web site
