Yay, the rear tube doesn't hold air.

Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
What is the difference between the 3x10 tires and the 90/90 are the 90's bigger?
Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
yes its wider and slightly taller. fits better with no mods than the 3.50 tires. a 90/90 tire is 3.54in wide so pretty much same width as a 3.50 tire but not as tall.allisswell wrote:What is the difference between the 3x10 tires and the 90/90 are the 90's bigger?

Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
Greetings;
What Baka said, and the 90/90 is 3.19" tall. (90 percent of 90mm = 81mm divided by 25.4.)
As Baka-san also said, tire brands of the same Nominal size vary in Actual size, sometimes by a LOT.
Unless you know for sure, avoid ordering a 3.50. One man's fit is another man's frustration. I hate to carve away crankcase. I have yet to see/hear of a 90/90 that didn't fit the case SE/05 or SA/16. Sometimes a Centerstand issue can arise, though.

What?
Your threads are backwards?.............probably not.
rusty rims pop tubes
new best 1/8th mile time 9.647 seconds @67.155 mph 310lbs total weight
Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
I wire brushed the rims for 40 minutes then steel wooled them then rust fixy primered them then painted, popped tube due to user install error.
Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
So while working on getting the exhaust stud out I notice that the right angle stem is mounted pointing towards the left side of the bike, aka the engine side. So I'm looking at it and thinking, "that's gonna at the very least rub". I spin the wheel and watch as the valve bends @12 degrees as it passes the engine block.
So, will I be able to rid 5 miles to the scooter shop that mounted it wrong before the tube breaks from wear at the stem, or do I pull it off and take the car?

i would pull it of and take the car. i have to space out my exhaust a bit on my aero so the stem doesnt hit.

Re: 1996 SA50 tire change with issues-with progress updates
So, 15 months later... I finally got the tire in to the shop. What a nightmare. I had emailed the shop and they said "sure, bring it in" and I did, service guy hands it over to mechanic and tells me to wait. Mechanic must hate doing tires, as he comes out from back fast and *. What bike is this from??? I tell him, but he's looking at service guy, as apparently I don't exist even though I'm right next to him. "When did we put this on?". "About a year ago." Service guy tells me, a year is stretching it, but they'll take care of it. Basically an hour passes with me waiting, now late for work, as I watch the mechanic prowl around like a caged tiger. He keeps pulling tubes from the stockpile. Turns out, my rim "is s***" and keeps popping tubes. Why send it home with me 15 months ago instead of selling me a rim? Oh well, the 3rd tube hasn't popped yet.
