You might get away with using a 90 jet right now. But as the temps get warmer it might run rich. The 88 jet you can order from a honda dealer. 88-93 elite 50 lx/sr

Greetings:

As Baka-san says. Parts dude like numbers. Read this one to 'em over the phone: 99101-187-0880 for the 88. -0850 and -0820 are available too. Nothing bigger from Honda is available, but ask them if they have one that ends in 0900, 0940... if you want some room to grow.

Cutaway Spree carb shows threads are not cut deep enough for the 'Ruckus' style jet to press against the emulsion tube. Jet in the pic is just a reversed std as an illustration.

Two ideas for running jets manufactured 'upside down' :)
  • Tap carb body deeper
  • Make a spacer and cut down the bowl end of the jet if clearance became an issue.

Got it to run with the malossi jet, reset the clip to the richest and dialed in the air and fuel screws. I FINALLY have kick start on 1 of my 2 bikes!

Not a huge difference between the new bbk and ruckus variator, a tad bit more power, but that's about it. I gotta heat cycle and break in before wot top speed runs

Heat cycle 8 times and set piston rings 50 miles and THEN break in 400 miles as little load as posssible

I did heat cycle it a few times before riding. It is balls cold, I spend the evening running until it got warm, shutting off until it got cool.

At the end of the night, I rode it for about 2 miles, never taking it over 25

I need to do a few more heat cycles before I ride it for very long at all, and then break it in. 400 miles is probably not going to be possible, as that would be approx 6 months of my commute, however, I plan on doing a few 12 mile trips that I can do part throttle.

Get the jetting right first before you start riding it outside your neigborhood. It doesnt take much to fry a cylinder if its lean. If the jet that came with the kit doesn't look like your stock jet. Don't use it. Its made for a different carb.either get a 88 or 90 jet if your using the stock airbox non modded.also put about 1 cap full of oil in the tank too. Unless your premixing then you might have to use a larger main jet.

Baka,

The Malossi jet does look like the stock one. So we are good there I believe. I am going to continue to do a few more heat cycles tonight and tomorrow without riding it, and then Saturday pick up some new jets. I called a place in beaverton that sells the jets in store, I will pick up an 88, and a 90, does anyone think a 95 is needed too?

I am also going to pick up a new B8HS plug for the plug chop. My current plugs are not going to indicate the new conditions.

Great thread to watch for those of us looking at purchasing the Malossi BBK for our AF05's.

Was this the same kit purchased from Red Eft Performance? Trying to anticipate if I need to buy the 88/90 jets in addition to the kit; or anything else for that matter.

Yes, this is the kit from red eft.

The jet is working well for now. My roller weights were too high, but I achieved 40 mph and I weigh 250 lbs

Went to 3 10g rollers temporarily till my 6 gram rollers get here, the 30g is just a bit too low to truly evaluate the power.

Clarification, my rollers of 46g was too high but I went 40mph.

Went to 30g and much better acceleration but max out at 30mph
