extending trail tech TTo thermometer wires??

hey guys i read i can use speaker wire to extend the harness for my trail tech tto thermometer for my scooter head temp sensing... anyone have any info on this- what gauge wire or any tips, thanks a million steve

I've done it by soldering 18 gauge shielded signal cable worked fine. I think as long as you use the same gauge or larger it will be fine as all the sensor does is change resistance. The cable on the thing isn't shielded bit I have the shielded cable in 1000' box for making audio cables and for installation work I sometimes do. A bit of heat shrink tube on all of the solder joints and good as gold. Had I known I would have just ordered the pre-made extension from treat land, Benji carries them along with some other parts for the trail tech stuff.

yeah im not in a big rush- still waiting on my malossi bore for red- doing some cosmetic stuff now- painting, poor mans dio case cover-(aka i cut it in half)
