Quick question about Piston Stopper

Post by bfowler »

Hey guys just a quick question about a piston stopper. I'm wanting to break down my variator and clutch but I don't have an impact wrench. Will this piston stopper work for my honda elite 00'? I haven't seen anyone talk about a piston stopper on here so I'd just like to be sure that it works okay and there won't be any issues.

Here's the link to the piston stopper, thank you!

Never heard anyone use a piston stopper on the board, most use a clutch holding tool a strap wrench or an impact. Not to say a piston stopper wont work i just myself would rather hold the clutch in place instead. I worry about how strong the head of a piston would be against a small surface of the piston stopper

I do not know about a piston stop other than it is not a multi use item. $11.00 plus the shipping. Harbor freight has an automotive car battery powered impact wrench for $30.00 With a 20% off coupon that would be only $24.00. That is probably only about $7.00 more than what is only a glorifyed bolt. I have this impact wrench and it functions very well. I have used it on my bikes and my car. Very handy to have. Comes with some sockets.

Just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

dont use a piston stopper. that is used for degreeing a cam among other things. that is way too much force on the piston. it would be the same as throwing a rock into the combustion chamber, and trying to turn it over.

I would not recommend using that.

I will probably gouge the top of the piston.

Have done this with success.... but have bought a HF electic impact and glad I did. I always recommend care putting nut back with impact . You can damage splines - bad ... real bad. I always hand tighten and wedge the started gear with a wrench wedge.
I'm more than happy to explain it to you. I'll even draw you a picture! But I can't understand it for you.

Hello
Tusk has a clutch holding tool that works great for holding clutches, drive pulleys, and lots of other stuff!! It's a handy tool!! Amazon has one for about $17. Also makes assembly torquing easier

I found one on amazon and its only about $8 so I'm wondering if it will work as well. If not I'll probably order the tusk one.
