Well it was missing pwtcock and side cover too. petcock I made a temp fix with a manual valve. it was barely getting spark now none . check resistance. yellow at 10x is 0.1 and white is 0.1 bluelyellow is 11 and black/red I get no reading at all. I think the stator is bad. any suggestions?

Good price.

It sounds like you could be using an analog multi-meter. If that is the case, double check your reading with meter set it 'x1k' for the Black/Red (Spark Exciter wire). CH80 manual says that coil is 800 to 1200 ohms, at x10, meter reading is pretty much in the mud.

For accuracy, goal is to use the highest setting which does not peg the meter. Meter accuracy and resolution better near full scale. In the pic below, Blue is range for x1k setting, Red is where the meter would read at x10.

I tried both settings with all wires. at 1k yellow and white pegged out and the red black still no reading at all. Andhra it's an analog meter

Argh - that's about all externally which can be measured on the Black/Red wire (Spark exicter coil.) If you are sure about the external ground point being measuring is good (I think you have that ruled out...) At this point the stator is suspect. Yet it's worth pulling the flywheel and check for continuity faults between the coil--Black/Red wire. Also the internal ground for the same coil.

Hey, that's retro and plenty effective :thumbwink:

Hey Mystic...I've got an Elite 80 engine sitting here that was running before part-out.
I'd be glad to mail you a stator if you get to that point.
Or anything else that you find bad, if I have it.... :urban:
Good to see you again.... :hi:
