glue for plastics on spree
Does anyone know of a glue that will work on the plastic used for the floorboard, front fender and leg shield, taillight, etc. I've tried 3 kinds of super glue, cpvc pipe glue, and one epoxy glue and none of them work. There's got to be something out there that will hold a Spree together. Thanks

Greetings:
A few years ago, plastic welding was the only option. Recently I met a fellow who runs a Stand-Up Paddleboard business in Florida who told me there's a new adhesive out that bonds Polyethylene. Google it.

I know this sounds crazy.... Get some MEK. Put some plastic silverware ( good thick kind) and the MEK in a jar that can be sealed. The silverware will melt in the MEK and become a paste. voila! Glue! After sanding and paint you will never know the difference. Now, try to find the MEK, hard to find in some areas. Go to walmart, automotive, Berryman's B-12 chemtool. Mostly MEK, use it.

Thanks for all the replies!! With winter setting in, I should have time to try out these ideas. Thanks again

I've had good luck with basic 5-minute epoxy. But I always back up repairs with fiberglass. The mesh stuff used for drywall works great for this and is self-adhesive... less mess and trouble than raw woven mesh. Stick 2-3 layers on the part to be fixed, work in some epoxy into the mesh... voila.

If using MEK make sure you wear all the safety gear you can. This stuff is nasty and is a well known carcinogen. At the very least us thick disposable gloves and in a well ventilated area.

Yup, plastic welding is the way to go! I used a small soldering iron that worked well with a little patience. I finally broke down and spent $15 at HF for a plastic welder that came with reinforcing mesh and filler rods. Also bought a pack of assorted rods. Very happy with the resultspaulpauly7 wrote:plastic welding

If your scooter isn't the prettiest to begin with, I've found that small zip ties work great for repairing the plastic panels. My scooter is black and with black zip ties it isn't even noticeable unless you're inspecting it up close. Plus, it gives it a nice Nightmare Before Christmas feel... Just drill holes first, or if you're into making it look like a monster, heat up an awl with a torch and punch holes.

hi forum
I got this epoxy at a body shop store.$15 for epoxy,$20 for the gun. you need to scuff surface and add metal for support. dries quick.
