Replacement oil hose - -Question

Post by wizbit »

I'm looking to replace my oil pump hoses and would ideally like them to be clear so I can check that they have been bled correctly and there is no air lock. What do you guys use?
The best fit I have in my garage is PVC aquarium hose. PVC appears to ok to use with oil but shouldn't be used at temperatures above 70 degrees Centigrade. I don't know what temperatures would be experienced at the pump, does anyone here know? :)

PVC hardens in use with gasoline. Not sure about oil.

You can get fuel-safe clear line at some hardware stores, most small-engine places, and off ebay.

I get mine on Amazon - they carry all 3 common sizes in clear - 1/8, 3/16, 1/4. It's nice to order in bulk and have when needed. Otherwise I am tempted to re-use hoses rather than wait until I get new ones.

Thanks. I get blank looks from the motorcycle dealers here as everything is in black or the wrong size. I need 3mm internal for the oil. I will try some of the local chandlers & boat service units, I think they deal with more two strokes than bike dealers these days.

I get my tygon line from the local small engine shop by the foot. Home depot here in Canada sells the tygon yellow fuel line in a bunch of sizes in precut lengths so in the USA should be easy to find.

PVC might be ok for a couple days until you can find the right stuff. I think it hardens up with oil as well.
