Gyro won't start

Post by forty9er »

1984 Honda Gyro will only start by spraying starting fluid into breather box. Afterwards runs and idles great and will start without fluid. Have checked the by starter- wiring- had carb cleaned in heated tank what should I try next.

Thanks

Compression. If it's too low it won't start on gas alone.

Try a squirt of oil into the plug hole before starting. My 84 Gyro needed a squirt to fire up, turned out to be cylinder out of round, had good compression after 15 engine rotations, but had very low compression on the first rotation. Oversize piston and cylinder boring fixed the no start problem.
Hope you get the Gyro sorted out, keep us posted on what you find.
