What Premix Ratio to run?

Post by refl3x »

OK... so i read the thread and i'l still a bit confused.. I have a af18 (dj1-rr with the chambered pipe) motor with the keihen 28mm carb, and a 78cc big bore kit. i've already plugged the hole where the oil pump used to be. my two questions are....

1. what ratio premix should I use during break-in and do I use a different oil then the one from honda?

2. what would a good ratio premix following break-in and is the honda premix oil fine?

I have a cht gauge so i should be able to keep eye on it no issue but i would like some suggestions for starting points

Greetings:

When the engine is correctly lubricated, more oil isn't better. The extra oil won't burn off as it's supposed to, leading to excessive carbon accumulation in the exhaust, and even worse the combustion chamber. Furthermore, every time you adjust the oil content, your air/fuel ratio changes a little, requiring re-evaluation of your jetting. Go 32:1 and stick with it as Pauly suggested.
