AF16 swap on sb50

I have built a AF16 to swap to my 88 sb50p. With the exception of the motor mount fabrication does anything else need to be switched? Can the existing wire harness be used?

yes the sb harness can be used .You just need to mod the engine mount and rear shock mount .

So the malossi cdi i have is useless if i use the sb harness, and the wires from the stator seem different, any suggestions?

colours should be the same from motor to frame if you have a loom that the malossi cdi plugs into just unpin the plug and switch it over .

That is very helpful, I'm going to do a bit of research on the wire colors on the cdi. Thanks for the info, that should definitely save me a few bucks and a headache or two. Thanks!

Yes, the sb50 harness can be used with the AF16 motor. This was my setup for years until I recently traded the sb50 with my nephew. You'll be happy with the engine upgrade . The only downfall of this setup IMO is the tiny gas tank so be wary if you plan to travel far.

They must of sent me the wrong cdi. The one pictured is the same as the one on my sb, the one they sent me is a duel plug set up. 2 pins in one plug 3 pins in the other. Does hat some familiar?
