First use a oil pump plug..then you can epoxy or make a bracket to secure it there..You need to take the space up that the oil pump took up.

hi AMS. you may have to make a custom plug? :nerd:
steel epoxy may brake or fragment inside the motor? :nervous:
not good with the new malossi crank.
I like your thinking tho. :

graphite9 wrote:Get an oil pump plug, and cut the end off if need be. Don't use any type of epoxy down there, that's a bad idea. Also, maybe sure your using correct tools to install that crank. Don't hammer, pound, or press the cases together. It's too nice of a crank to damage. Do it right.

don't worry, like "all state insurance" all parts are in good hands,

I am also a KX500 rider, and the race guys stuff the crankcase ( to reduce volume) with Devcon. Apparently it moves peak torque up the RPM scale. They surround the crank area and machine it out, I forgot what clearance they use, but it's only a few thousandths to allow for expansion and vibration. The trail riders do the opposite and add reed block spacers to increase crankcase volume and lower peak torque rpm.
I have never used Devcon, but it has been around for years.
