Hello,
Anyone know if a front brake cable for a 84 gyro is same size as on another year honda, having trouble finding a cable. Or any ideas how to free up a stuck cable, I have tried soaking in vinegar and carb dip bucket.
Thanks

That is a 84 gyro only item. That another might fit, sure. Measure yours so the seller can measure his to make sure it is long enough.

Thanks, that makes sense. I will measure it and keep trying to get mine unstuck...I am soaking in oil now.

On my '84 Gyro build I needed a new front brake cable so I got one from a '83-'84 Aero 50. It was about 2" too long, but the ends matched up and you have just a little bigger loop.

Thanks Zuphilius,
Mine snapped while trying to free it up. I will look for one off an Aero 50 (1984 or 85)

Re: 1984 honda gyro part?
I have the same problem.. can't find a front brake cable for my 1984 NN50MD Gyro. Unfortunately, I can't find one from a 83-84 Aero 50 either.. they seem to be unobtainable too. I can find one for the 85 Aero and it looks to be 6 inches too long instead of 2 inches too long. I may try to use the 6 inch too long one if I can't find anything else. Does anyone know a source for the Aero 83-84 front brake cable? 2 inches long will work fine.. not sure about 6 inches too long though..

Here in Nashville, there are a few people with all the supplies to make custom cables.
Yes, it can get expensive, but on a Gyro, I wouldn't expect it outrageous.
Make some phone calls to the moto-shops in your area,
especially the chopper shops...they always need custom cables.

Terrycable used to make any motorcycle brake cable to your specs. They do throttle cables too. Give them a call and see if they still make custom cables, the worst they can say is no.
When dealing with a cable that is no longer available, you cannot worry about price, if they will make one for you, then buy it and don't quibble about a few bucks.

Re: 1984 honda gyro part?
I found the answer to this one.. Since the earlier message from June 20, 2012, about using a 2 inch longer cable from a '83 -'84 Honda Aero was posted, Honda ran out of these cables as well as the 1984 Gyro front brake cable. However, I did stumble on a seller on eBay who seems to have unlimited supply of 47 inch cables. 47 inches is the full length of the inner cable and so is only 2 inches longer than the 1984 Gyro cable. Just like an earlier posted said in this current topic, a 2 inch longer cable will indeed fit the 84 gyro nicely if you give some thought to routing it with a slightly bigger loop down behind the steering shaft cover. After installing the 2 inch longer cable, I can see that a 5 or 6 inch longer cable that is still available from Honda will not work. The 47 inch cable now available on eBay has exactly the right ends for the Gyro and seems to be of very good quality. Mine works very well, and without taking off the steering shaft cover, you would never know that it is 2 inches too long. The eBay listing is at:
