1987 Elite SE50 Electrical help

Post by BbyINaMicrowave »

Hey all,

I have a salvaged Honda Elite that I just started working on again since I now have a garage to work in.

I purchased a new block and a bunch of upgraded parts for it, which are already mounted.

I've come across as issue with the part of the wiring harness that is near the front part of the engine.

4 connections pertrude from the harness, one has 4 wires that connect to the alternator, another two (red and green) that connect to the starter, a single wire with just a metal connection. I have located their partners and connected them.

The 4th connector has two wires (Bu/Bl and yellow), Does anybody know what this is intended to connect too?
I can't locate any partner connection for it.

Any help is appreciated.
Will post pictures as soon as I get out of work at 1330 EST.

Thanks,

Troy

Hi,
Does it look like anyone's bodged the wiring at some point?

I found the following diagram (1987 SE50) : http://www.hondaspree.net/other/SE50_19 ... iagram.jpg

Yellow looks like it might be for the bystarter on the carb.

Bu/Bl on this diagram would be related to the right hand turn signals

I am 90% certain it is the bystarter because I have left over wires on my spree swap and the only wires left are those.
The red with white is the starter, which i'm also not running.

The red on the yellow is from the red cable liner, it apparently stained a line on it. But yeah you should only have the 2 disconnected. Just tape the ends off and tape up the harness to keep water out.

I looked at the bystarter cables and I'm certain that is it as well, because I have a dellorto carb with manual choke.
The connector is also red like the bystarter. I missed this due to the fact that it didnt come with its oem carb.

Thanks for the help, fellas!
