Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
Starts immediately but when opening throttle it bogs down or dies. If nyou baby it and let engine keep up by going back and fourth on throttle it will sometimes run.

New bystarter. A/C voltage good, and bystarted gets warm
Completely cleaned carb. verified main jest set o n second groove
New plug
New carb insulator with orings replaced
Air filter cleaned and re-oiled
oil in tank was there when I purchased it

Re: Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
Have you tried BBQing the muffler yet?
Re: Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
Yes, cooked on gas grill for 3 hrs then ran water through it. When this thing is on the stand you crack the throttle and rpms goes wide upon with no problem. Try to ride and bogs at 1/2 throttle. How do you check the pilot circuit?
Re: Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
have you tried to move the jet up, clip down by one cut, then adjust air screw...?
Re: Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
Whats your mixture screw set at? You didn't specify what year Spree it was. 84-85' Spree is 1 7/8 turns out....86-87' is 1 1/2 turns...check manual.
What new bystarter did you get? Is it OEM? If not, remove the tiny black rubber ring on the tip. Pry it out with a razor knife or something. Toss it.
Manual petcock with vac line plugged?....ummm, that cant be good for proper fuel delivery. Petcocks are dirt cheap, get one. Be sure it has correct threads to match gas tank. Don't booger up those threads on the tank or youll be hurtin. I bought a cheap petcock from Ebay with the wrong threads. They were too course.

I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

Re: Spree bogs down on acceleration, dies or stumbles.
that sounds like the classic spree air leak. like a missing air box. Double check the air hose from the air box to carb and make sure there is a gasket in the air box lid. the pilot jets dont usually get clogged, its the orifice in the float bowl that feeds it that gets clogged so very often. shine light though it with a flashlight and check. And good old Meatball makes a great point on the bystarter rubber ring. There is a vacuum test in the manual to check the bystarter that proves very handy.

Thanks for the responses:
1. Have not tried moving main jet clip, will do so today.
2. Spree is 86 Special. Air screw set at 11/2 out, tried other positions.
3. Freed up old pet ok, tested (required 5# vac to operate, tested engine appeared to produce 4# with starter. But line appeared to stay full.
4. Air box in place good condition with gaskets in place. Filter original, cleaned and oiled. Pilot hole on bowel is open. By starter is after market, don't remember seeing rubber on tip, will check today. Do you mean the rubber is on the needle valve tip of bystarter? Tried spraying starter fluid around air box and all intake joints with no change. Long tube in pilot circuit next to main jet does appear to be plugged. Spark plug is new and now black, appears to be burning rich

Problem solved!!!!
Pilot circuit tube next to main jet was plugged, soaked carb over-night and then blew it out. Actually saw the blockage. Put old petcock back on, good acceleration and honest 27mph with 200# rider. Ready to join my stable. Thanks again for all the responses. Pretty nice, since a guy on Craigslist gave me the scoot!!! It is no ready to join my stable.
