Brake Shoes and Batteries...how cheap is too cheap?

Post by Meatball »

Needing fresh shoes and a battery. Seeing dirt cheap ones on the usual auction site but cheap sometimes isn't the way to go. Just wondering if theres a reasonably priced brand out there with good quality that people swear by or have had good experience with. Are there any that are total junk to avoid? Im looking at the ones below...comments?

General rule.... Is seller from China, if yes, find other seller, then... is part from China, if yes... find other seller. If the part is made in the good Ole USA, it's probably good quality but higher priced... I'd shoot for something from Taiwan or Japan and price compare that way.

I use cheap eBay (China) batteries. They are the same as the auto parts store but half the price.
Both only last 2 years tops. Thanks for the reminder.

So, after doing some research on those "SOK" brand pads from the link in my first post, I found out theyre from Taiwan. However, the Ebay seller ships from Illinois so it wont take 3 weeks to arrive. Im going to try them out and see how they are. If they end up being junk then Im only out $20 for front and rear together. Not bad.

Heres the site from "SOK" brand I found. http://www.sok-brake.com/home.html

For battery Im going with cheapy China. Bones made a great point that they only last 2yrs anyways. Besides, the batteries aren't as important on these bikes as it is in a vehicle. Ive been running mine with a dead battery for a while now.

This. Batteries, at least when they fail, it's not catastrophic.

Buy some ebc brakes, I find the prices are great and they are great quality. I use them on all of my scooters.
