1984 Honda Aero NB50 Vaccum problem an odd one

Post by Aerosmith 50cc »

Scooter starts on first or second kick. It barely runs with throttle wide open. I replaced the petcock , by-starter , battery and spark plug with brand new oem parts and cleaned the carb. Still nothing I tried the air and idle adjustment screws no luck. Then I desided to remove the vaccum line from the carb while it was running with throttle wide open all of a sudden she picked right up and I could barry the neddle for about 30secs maybe alittle less didn't time it lol. then it dies. I'm thinking reeds.

Please help.

Thanks

pull the trans cover and check out all the parts, if it starts its not a fuel problem, reeds never go bad!

must be a reed or carb problem. see the vaccum nipple from the carb is not sucking the air at least not enough for proper flow of fuel. If I remove the line from the nipple the bike runs like new then eventually dies. I'm going to check reeds before I mess with trans.

will keep you posted,

Thanks

plug chop.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

your running so rich the bike needs full to run, i think that your reeds are stuck closed, or the cage was bent in.

I think your petcock diaphragm is leaking.
When you remove it, you say it runs great, then dies.
I'm thinking your running out of fuel then.
Pull the vacuum line off the manifold and suck on it. It should hold a vacuum.
If not, your petcock diaphragm is leaking.
let us know.

Then drawing in the extra air when the vacuum line is released, tells me your running to rich.
Do a plug chop, and check your main jet size.

Pull the main jet and check the number on it. Also check to see that someone along the way didn't drill it bigger.
Check cold start tube in bowel and idle jet.
Ive seen these drilled out as well.
