87 spree spark, gas won't start/fire

Post by Skip »

I have an 87 spree that has been in storage for a couple of years. The motor seems to to turn over allright with adequate compression. The plug sparks when cranked out side. The bowl had gas. Even with starting fluid it wont fire. I'll appreciate any advice.

When cranking it over make sure there is exhaust being expelled from end of muffler. If not it is plugged and that could be your problem.
Make sure your carburetor settings are correct for air jet screw .
Your idle screw may not be screwed in far enough either.

I would also start out by thorougly cleaning the carb
and making sure all jet openings are clear.
Make sure you have a clean air filter.

if it wont even attempt to start when using starter fluid, id suspect compression. i know u said its ok, but id thoroughly make sure first.
projects galore :nerd:

Get a compression checker. Esp. after that "yes I have good compression, oh my piston's cracked" post.
