Starter problems

Post by lssandy »

Hey everyone,

Just got my Elite 2 weeks ago and its a 94 SA50 SR. It had a bad battery so I changed it with a new one I just got but I got a few problems. When I turn on the key the blinkers, tail-light, and horn work. But it will not kick on the headlight without the motor running and the starter doesn't work either. Is there a fuse or a relay that controls both of these? And if so where do I find it at? Thanks for your help!!!

I've never owned a '94 or newer bike, but I don't think that the headlight turns on with the ignition on.

The hand brake needs to be applied in order for the starter to engage.

If that doesn't work then check to see if the brake lights are working. if not, it may be a defective brake switch.

Headlight runs off the engine directly
Must apply brake to start it.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
