Nice post BeeMain. This swap is something I'm thinking about doing as well so please keep this thread updated with your progress/findings. Where in Canada are you at? I'm out in Whistler, BC.

Aeros Can Fly

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

If a sophomore mechanic like me can get my Aero to 70 kliks, so can you. Here's some info on my powertrain upgrade process:

Polini 47mm top end kit @ DayWOT. Probably needs a jet size bigger than Polini supplies.
Keli HSV - 8 or 9 grams
Replaced the belt
Smoothed and widened stock intake manifold.
I'm told the 3" tires will fit for a "gear swap" that amounts to 9% Taller.

You can read about reeds - Flash's Carbonized Reed Valve - in Performance Technical. Easy, nice upgrade did little for the top end but helped take-off and midrange significantly.

And here are some results:

http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8016

That's with 2.75" tires. The Polini-augmented engine's eager for more but can't put it down due to overall gearing too low, jetting and plug issues to resolve.

I'll be working on a gear mod installation soon. Malossi 16/32 taking the reatio from 11.097 to around 7.83:1. If I install those I may have to go a gram or 2 lighter on the rollers. Will post results.

Scooterwerx reports he has an Aero that gives any Elite a run for its money - just ask him for more advanced mods that should get you near 90 KPH.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

The 2 don't even compare, the Spree is ancient and slow and the Jog's do over 45 stock.

i guess I shoulda said, cuz of better trans and more power than the elite, not the spree.

I know the reasons why the elite are slow.
