I recently bought an 86 Aero 50 which did not come with a speedometer cable.
I just got one in the mail off of ebay and when I hooked it up it makes a LOUD noise from the speedo while moving
at first, It sounded like the cable was spinning inside of the speedo housing and creating the sound but that is not the case
while accelerating, after maybe 5-10 mph, the speedo shoots up past 35, as far as it will go... looking like I just accelerated like a bullet

Re: Aero speedo woes
Did you grease the heck out of the cable?
Sounds like it was binding up, then releasing causing the spike.

Re: Aero speedo woes
Yeah, lube the crap out of it.
Does the fitting on the speedo itself rotate freely?
