Wouldn't the ramp guide provide support regardless of the size of the shaft hole?

No because the shaft hole supports the ramp some from moving around which also takes some movement from the variator from moving to much on the pulley boss.
Nothing like getting stroked!

Greetings:

Using an AF16-size ramp plate on an AF05 should be no problem. The pulley boss squeeezes it tight to the crank shoulder regardless of the size of the hole. (Unless it's bigger than the crank shoulder!) The only concern is that it must be held centered on the variator during the bolt-up process until the nut is torqued on with its 30 ft.-lbs. The ramp guides mostly do that for you anyway. If you suffer from OCD, you can press in a spacer to regain the 12mm crank diameter, but many don't bother.

alright guys so i guess nobody knows how to post a sound clip?? well ive decided that i think it is my final drive gears that are making this racket,,when ur getting up to speed everything sounds normal untill you reach almost full RPM/speed and then the noise starts to chime in. anybody ever heard of the gears maybe being worn in the final drive and it is like "gear slap" if you will? they are just kinda loose and worn out and rattling on each other??

Can't you use Photobucket or one of the other pic posting places?

for doing audio bear?anyway i think i have it all figured out..its my gears in the final drive. they are probably the original gears and have wear and tear on them. they are not tightly fitted together really..meaing holding 2 of them still i can move the middle gear back and forth giving me "gear slap." you can see in this picture the wear on the big gear shaft face that slide into the bearing, not sure what its from but not good im guessing.so i figured out what i need im pretty sure...new/used gears pointing at in picture below for 87 honda elite SE50, new final drive case seal, and im thinking a new seal that goes out to the rear wheel..i say this because when i pulled my rear wheel off it is full of oil!! worst place to have oil in your brakes, yikes!! also my brake shoes are worn out in the front and rear so i need a set for the front and rear. anyone that reads this has any of these parts used but in GOOD working condition let me know please. ill do it in a list just to recap...thanks again!

1. gears and shaft im pointing at in pic..
2. final drive case seal
3. brake shoes front and back
