Greetings:

The throttle slide should literally Fall into position - it moves that freely. If it doesn't and someone applies strong force to make it go down, the little nub in the slide bore will be damaged along with the slide. Once that happens, it may be very difficult to fix, and you may need a new carb AND slide.
