Thanks for your understanding.... My personal policy is to ship within 2 days of payment. I have not met my own personal goal. Therefore, this is why I feel obligated to make up for it as when I pay for something I want it now. Shipping is incidental. Your fairing WILL be mailed Saturday as that will be when I will be coherent again.

What? Are you getting shock treatment tomrrow so that things will be differnt than normal for you?

I am figuring some things out as I go, but I need some help with someone who has an aero that has normal wiring. Apparently some amateur electrician had my scoot before me because there are so many hack wires. I really need a pic of what the starter relay is supposed to look like. A pic of it installed would be helpful because I'm pretty sure I don't have a relay at the moment. I think I have my blinkers sorted out. I'll find out tomorrow when I buy a flasher relay instead of the four prong one that was installed(with some horn wires attached) that's why I was betting a buzz instead of a horn.

I cleaned the contacts for the starter button, and checked it with continuity all the way back to where I think the starter relay should be and then it dead ends. So I know the starter button works now. All the bulbs and the blinker switch work, just no lights.

Here is a link to the Service manual. It has a wiring diagram and a lot of pictures of where thing belong. Download it and save it for future reference.

Not really, 12 hours shifts just kinda kick my * I will have time then. But prehaps some of that therapy might help you?

A scooter ride would be cheaper, even if you boutthat pair od Aeros on craigslist.

I already have that saved and have been using it. That is what lead me to believe that I don't even have a starter relay. The wire from the starter button just stops. So do all wires that should be connected to a starter relay. The wiring diagram doesn't show where each wire goes to what post on the relay. That is part of the reason I was looking for an actual picture.

Page 14-10 shows where the wires go on the starter relay and page 1-9 shows where the electrical boxes are located.

I suggest you sit down and make yourself familar with the manual because you keep asking questions that are answered in the manual.

Starter relay connector and wire connections are pretty standard across the Honda scooters we discuss here. Here's a pic of the wires connections at the connector. I think this was a pic of a Spree, - but should map to your Aero. Verify relay coil connections with a multimeter and you'll be good to go.

I really appreciate the picture. It just confirms what I thought. I have no starter relay. I have that white connector in the picture with the four wires, but it is not connected to anything. I'll try to post pics of what I have to work with tomorrow. I'm hoping I will be able to find a generic one. I looked up the oem one and it's around 30 bucks i think.

Flea-bay and search Honda aero 50. There are several of them with greatly varying prices. Skip the dude in Provo, Utah he is a greedy scum sucker and asks more for used items than new ones cost and that is even if the part is still available.

Well I have most of the issues sorted. Put in a relay from the autoparts store and voila, blinkers. Not at idle though. I thought maybe my idle was too low, but I don't have a tachometer to check (sounds fine though). I'm guessing it's most likely the battery. It starts fine but i suppose it just might not be enough to run the lights at idle. I charged it for 45min at 2A but it didn't seem like it did much. Next step finding that starter relay.

Edit:found the relay 12 bucks shipped. Should be here sometime this week. I am looking forward to having everything working so I can spend time/money on unnecessary/go fast parts.

To set the idle speed without a tach, warm up the scooter (5 minutes of running). Set the scooter on the center stand and make sure the rear wheel is free to turn. Now adjust the idle speed screw (the top one) just so the rear tire is not turning. That will get you close enough. I do this with all my scooters even though I have a test tach.

Sometimes the blinkers will not work at idle, but this usually indicates a low voltage situation. Either a weak battery or alternator or both. The choice of an electronic flasher rather than the old bimetal type will solve this issue too.

I suppose I left that part out. It is an electronic flasher. The packaging only said 12v. Then I remembered that the thermal flasher they had stated a range of 11-15v. So I went back and bought that on the off chance it would work better at lower voltage, but same result. I will however try that idle trick, thanks.
