i followed this whole carb tunning guide and actually down jetted the pilot.. but i will order some new pilots, only have a 50. i even bought a infrared gun to check temp and was pretty accurate at the time maybe ill look into that a little more... as far as tuning pilot how do you go about??? and how do you check it???

the infared thermometer only checks surface temp and that can change really quick because of the fan blowing air across the head so that would really be inaccurate for sure. the only way to know what the pilot jet is doing is by using a good working cht. on decel closed throttle the temp will come down from its peak temp. a 48 pilot is way to small for a 28mm carb . the 48 is for a 24mm carb.

the funny thing is the 48 is the jet that came in the carb... ok ill get some bigger jets to try... thanks for the help

The jets that come in the carb are a compromise at best. Depending on your set up, you jetting may end up way different. Listen to baka, he knows what he is talking about.
