Because he can charge you his minimum rate and use less time to install the time sert. So he does it because he makes more money doing it, not because it is better.

Nah he said he doesnt use heli coils cause they come back out sometimes. The heli coil is old school. Time sert is way better

Yes it is transmission hold primary and secondary gears is moving parts.

A heli-coil will work just fine for a gear cover bolt !

I am using heli-coils on 3 of the 4 CBR600RR race bike's front caliper bolt holes.(each of the 2 front calipers has 2 bolt holes)
Been in there past 3 years and numerous tire changes (have to remove both calipers to change front wheel / tire)
The aluminum threads on the calipers wear over time with repeated removals & eventually wear the threads out.
The heli-coil's steel threads have held up well over the test of time
When the 4th caliper bolt hole finally wears out, it too will get a heli-coil repair !

You will be fine for many years heli-coiling your case cover bolt hole
