Any good write ups on cleaning the carb? I want to verify the carb is as clean as it can be.

My money is on your pilot circuit... you should shine a light and verify it is clear. It is the small brass tube that goes up the main body to a tiny hole is adjacent to the main jet (large hole).

Keihin carb is quality... you are buying cheap knock off (China) that is inferior. You will be much better served cleaning quality IMHO.

You can soak the carb... then compressed air. I have used a small hose to hook to the carb pilot brass tube and the carb cleaner can red tube with luck too.

You can do it...

redo the compassion test and see if you have gain some ????
if the ring are stuck to the piston you may need to get them free from the piston by tacking off the top end.. how miney mile do you have on it???

Was the tank full of fuel and if it was did you drain it and clean the screen in the tank? Junk in the tank can be a real drag, water can be hiding in the tank and muck up the works and soon as you try and run it.

That pilot circuit is completely clogged you are right. I started cleaning it with (kinda funny) Pilot Orifice cleaner. Its a long, Super tiny prodding tool. Anyways, it broke off inside so i will just order the new one.

Since we know the carb is the problem ill order the nicer one mentioned above.

hay now that there is going be some time till you get the old girl running you may want to think about doing the up grads ... i wood tack off Variator Pulley and see if the rollers have flat spot and way them to see what the stock wate is ... i think this Variator Pulley will fit your scooter and give you a fue more mph .. he is tazland001 on here so pm him ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Elite-S-S ... 564a7f9edf as well as looking at the rings to see if you need new ones ... one other thing is a taller back tire like a 90/90/10 will help you as well about 1 or 2 more ...

I ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/271025855915?ss ... 1439.l2649 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/271025670417?ss ... 1439.l2648.

The carb i got is from the SB50 not the SB50p so it should have the unlimited jets. Am I correct?

Sorry if I'm new to the whole carb thing. I've learned on LS V8's and fuel injected Audis. Never messed with carbs before.

If you are talking about cleaning a jet you can order then you are not cleaning the pilot circuit, you are cleaning the main jet. I would not worry about ordering a main jet till you sort out your pilot jet issue. If you did break off a wire in your pilot jet you have a big problem.

Or are you talking about ordering a whole new carburetor?

Ordered a whole new carb. I might be able to get the piece off that's in the old carb but it will take alot of time tinkering. Good thing I'm waiting on Manley to get its s*** together and send my pistons before I can put together my drag engine!
