Newbie question about rollers and belts

UPDATE: When installing the new stator I found that all the wires coming from the stator had been crushed. They were jammed between the starter and the motor block. Had to remove the starter to get the wires out.

Don't know if it was the crushed wires or the stator itself but the battery is charging fine now.
