Yes it is that is just how it came when I bought it. The parts scooter I bought should have the gasket. Thanks for reminding me about that, good eye.
It's a good idea to replace the gasket with a new one since they are crush gaskets.

OH did not know that. Well if I run across one for a good price I will go ahead buy that.

Also here is the parts scooter I picked up last week for $60 but probably spent $40 in gas to get it.
After I get my scooter running I will be parting this out. Don't bother me now about parts on it. When I get to it I will let you all know.
OH ya the story on it. Some guy bought it at an estate sale and road it once but the engine belt went it out but he didn't know that so he ended up frying the starter. It has no kick start and I believe it is an 84.

Ok I put the motor fan cover on and I put the airbox to carb hose on. I also put the airbox lid on.
So now it should be ready to start up soon.

What are the settings for the two screws on the carburetor? Also if you can think any else to help it get started let me know. I will try to upload a video later of me trying to kickstart it.
The pictures of it are here.

Ok I tried getting it running today. The engine gets spark I tested that out. Then I tried to get it to run by kick starting it and I could only get it running by squirting in some ether and kick starting it. This resulted in running only for a like 1 to 2 second burst. Any advice on what I should do next?

NO STARTING FLUID (ETHER) with 2 stroke. I washes the lubricating oil off the cylinder walls allowing metal to metal contact. It can do other bad things too but just throw it in the trash. If you are going to prime an engine, use a 32 to 1 gas and oil mix.

If the motor fires with prime, then you have no fuel getting thru the carb into the engine.

Whether it is no fuel thru the petcock or a plugged up carb you will have to determine.

This is assuming you have a clean gas tank with fresh fuel in it.

I figured it out the two hoses that go to the petcock were switched and now it starts up fine thanks for help.
So now my next problem is the electric starter. I figured out the old starter motor was blown after some testing. So I had bought a new one and installed it but it won't even try to start up. Any ideas?

Brake has to be on with brake light illuminated before the starter will turn over.

The scooter is completely silent and the stater relay makes no clicking noises.
I am guessing the starter relay is the problem? if that is it, would a starter relay from an 85 spree work for my 86?

Go to the starter relay and find the green/yellow wire and ground it while the brake light is on. What happens?

So I took the starter relay out and plugged a wire in where the green/yellow wire would go. Then I grounded that wire. Then I tried starting scooter with electric start while brake light was on and it did nothing. Also the starter relay doesn't look to good as you can see in the picture.Image
