dose the jug have scratch in it ????

Yes there are scratches. They are all small except one. The small ones I cannot catch my fingernail on the larger one I cannot catch my fingernail on except for at the very top part of the scratch where it begins. I plan to attempt a hone on it and see if the scratch comes out and go from there.

I took a caliper to my cylinder bore and measured 38.8 and I see in the service manual it says the original bore is 39 mm so I obviously am not getting an accurate read with my cheap caliper. Obviously it would be better to have a cylinder type guage for accuracy. I then honed my cylinder and remeasured and again am getting 38.8mm. The hone looks good. The scratches came out well. I cannot any longer feel anything with my fingernail, however in the sun I can still detect small vertical lines in the cylinder. How perfect does the hone need to be?

I added more pressure to the hone stones this time and had another go at the cylinder and I think it looks pretty good now. Again there is no change in my bore measurements so I am going to assume from my readings that I need to purchase an original dia. piston and ring set.

Pre hone photo. These scratches came out with the hone.

I am looking at my Elite S exhaust and I am not sure if it was restricted and ground down or is still restricted or if it was never restricted. Sorry for the bad photo but this is a little tiny bit of a lip on one side but it is very small. It does not show signs of having been ground by someone. It looks stamped out by the factory yet it is oddly shaped. Just as a point, the restricted plate on the variator had not been removed by the previous owner, so I would think if they did not remove that they were unlikely to modify the exhaust. Does someone have a photo of what the restricted exhaust looks like?

You have to get those extra piston pieces out of the bottom end before you do anything else. :surprise:

I was kind of thinking that. It appears not completely removed. Yet there is no evidence of grind on the metal there other than the odd shape.

Im not trying to be unfriendly.

I dont want you to fix the top end , just to have it break again, by not cleaning out the broken pieces.

New piston and rings can be purchased on ebay for cheap.
