order air filter dom Honda and it comes pre oiled just pop it in. order a cheap bystarter for Chinese gy6 off bay for around 8 bucks. if it ran good with the exhaust off and the plug is wet when you take it out and it starts easy then I figure your bystarter isn't working properly. generally if it cranks the coil and cdi are good otherwise no spark or weak spark. waste of money to buy that cheap cdi

while it is running pull the vacuum line off the intake manifold for a secondand rev it up and see if it is still as bubbly. if it's rich gom bystarter it should run a little better with more air like when you ran it without exhaust it was sucking ai in the cylinder instead of reusing the extra fuel that is pushed into the exhaust. --- also throw that spark plug away and get an NGK bpr6hs only costs like 1.99 at oreily auto parts

The top speed was probably 20 but the throttle was not completely open
Yeah I will order the bystarter and I definitely need a new air filter. Is there anyway I can bypass the bystarter for now while it is warmed up?

Half a year ago I got it red hot with a propane torch (with it off, of course) and it did not make a difference. I may try to clean it out chemically

Yeah I took the line off of the intake manifold and it did not bubble.
Is there anything else I could try while the air filter and bystarter are being ordered? Is there anyway I go around the bystarter to get it running well?

Well, turns out it was the lean mixture and too much air that was the problem. I started it up, took the air filter and air box cover off, and while booting it, I put my fingers in front of where the air was being drawn in and the engine started to climb and run well. Of course, I cannot keep my fingers there while driving so I going to need to get an air filter.
