I bought a 2000 Elite with 4400 miles. It has a new piston and rings. It will not even get to 25 mph. I have tried unrestricting the exhaust, this only makes it louder. I have read about the the stock variator. I am going to try removing the plate. Just curious, how fast should this machine be stock. It feels like there is something wrong with the clutch. I have an 89 elite that will run 35 all day long, and it is stock. Any help would be appreciated.

stock it should run at least 35. look in techdocs under how to speed up an elite sa.
